Melapi Plywood
Melapi plywood is a very light species of mahogany or lauan found in Southeast Asia that is commonly used for furniture components.
The Melapi plywood is often produced with solid tropical hardwood species for both the core and the face veneers.
Asian tropical woods range in color from dark red to white. The wood comes in a variety of densities, which means different species may be more suited to a specific use than the generic Meranti product.
The mills can typically produce products that range in thickness from 2.7mm to 18mm and in sizes 4'x6' up to 4'x10'. Many mills also produce plywood utilizing core veneers, lumber core, MDF and PBC.
